Join us for our upcoming meetup on July 13 at Shopify –– thank you for hosting us! 

We'll have two talks this evening: (Doors open at 6pm, and talks will start at 6:30pm)

Andrew Brown, a Production Engineer at Shopify on "Elasticsearch multi-cluster support: using Kafka to keep multiple Elasticsearch clusters in sync"

Andrew Brown, as a Production Engineer at Shopify, supports and maintains their ElasticSearch, Kafka, and Zookeeper infrastructure.

Prior to this, Andrew worked at BlackBerry supporting BlackBerry Messenger and their Configuration Management tooling, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Western University.

Ahmed Khalifa, a Solutions Architect at Architech on "Monitoring as a first class citizen in the SDLC." 

Ahmed Khalifa, as a Solutions Architect at Architech, Ahmed works with internal teams and clients to create highly responsive software solutions and apply best practices for modern Software Engineering. Across all phases of the software lifecycle, with a focus on Cloud-Native and Cognitive Analytics solutions, Prior to that Ahmed worked at the Royal Bank of Canada as a Solution Architect and an evangelist for Cloud and Big Data after serving in various capacities at IBM Toronto Software Lab for over 15 years.

Claims to fame: as a Developer, I did some GC collection for JFace (Which later became Eclipse), and in 1986 as a teenager I wrote a fully functioning Spreadsheet using Basic on Commodore64!

Getting to the venue: 

We don't have dedicated parking, however, there are ample spots in the Waterloo Town Square parking lot right across the street. The main entrance of the office is off Erb St. (the left building), next to the CIGI office. 

Someone will be at the entrance to welcome the attendees.
