About this event

EPrints, the base software of the publication repository of the University of Zurich, comes with a search engine that doesn't quite live up to the current customer needs. In order to provide a modern UI and decent search capabilities such as faceted search, we decided to replace it with Elasticsearch. In our presentation, we will briefly outline the planning and implementation: From developing and building the index from existing metadata, setting up an application proxy for access control and data enrichment, to customizing and integrating a graphical user interface based on React / JS. In the second part of the talk, we present the University's Open Access Monitor, a public tool based on Kibana visualizations that supports faculties, institutes, libraries and authors to analyze their publication output with regards to various parameters. In the long-term it will help to increase overall Open Access share.
