Lyft’s logging infrastructure has matured quickly, starting last October with a move from Splunk Cloud to Elasticsearch/Kibana, and more recently from AWS’s hosted Elasticsearch to an in-house cluster. Michael Goldsby will tell the story of building Lyft’s logging pipeline to scale, outgrowing both Logging-as-a-Service and hosted solutions in the process. Access to the Lyft offices will be through Lobby 4 on Berry St (the lobby closest to the ballpark). Highlights will include: - Elasticsearch, ???, Kibana: The other L in ELK- Just Log Everything (but really please don’t) - Designing logs to destroy your cluster and annoy your users (or not to) - Save Me From My Users: Best practices for bad actors
