About this event

We will once again piggy back on the Elasticsearch training - the core development team will be in town, and they'll answer any and all questions. Loggly will be hosting + feeding us + sharing their ES experience with us - thank you Loggly!

Let me know if anyone is interested in doing a lightning talk, or if there are specific things you want to talk about! Mik.

• 6:30: Open source beer + pizza, mingle

• 7:00: Hello, meetup org announcements

• 7:05: Loggly Chief Search Officer and co-founder Jon Gifford will speak for 5 minutes to introduce the product, and importantly the technology that went into making it do, just what it does.  He will cover the Loggly use case from our internal perspective and the nuances of ES at scale.

• 7:10: Jon Gifford Q&A - ES at scale.

• 7:15: Lightning talks / demos: Mik Kocikowski (I) will show the 'esbench' benchmarking tool, and the 'elsec' (here on github) command line interactive client. If we can get anyone else, there will be more.

• 7:20: Please (re)meet Lee Hinman, stalwart Elasticsearch developer and all around cool chap. He will be visiting SF for the upcoming training and has graciously offered to be our speaker at the meetup. I can work up a more formal talk description if it is needed, but Lee is prepared to talk about snapshot/restore and aggregations coming in v1.0 He can speak on this for 30 minutes and then for Q&A with the team I believe all of our engineers in town for training will be in attendance, namely Lee, Igor Motov and Spencer Alger.

• As always, the points and the timing will be rigorously enforced ;-)
