About this event

Engineers at Quid will share their experience in building and managing a Rackspace Cloud ES megacluster which they use to derive intelligence from unstructured data --> $$$

There will be 2 guest speakers:

Florian Leibert will talk about running Elasticsearch on Mesos: Apache Mesos is a cluster manager that provides efficient resource isolation and sharing across distributed applications, or frameworks. It can run Hadoop, MPI, Marathon, Chronos and Spark, and other applications on a dynamically shared pool of nodes. We show how to run ElasticSearch on Mesos using ElasticMesos http://elastic.mesosphere.io.

Update: Florian can't make it this time, he will speak at the next meetup.

Maggie Nelson of Findery will talk about how ElasticSearch is used at Findery to help surface notable and relevant information about the world. She will talk about how ElasticSearch's geo and boosting features help members find hidden and not-so-hidden stories nearby, and how ElasticSearch can be easily set up to find jewels in what might seem like overwhelming amount of data.

Mik Kocikowski (I) will talk a bit about ES capacity planning and benchmarking using 'esbench' (https://github.com/mkocikowski/esbench)

Quid will provide free (in the Stallman sense of the word) pizza and refreshments! Thank you!
