LoopBack and Elasticsearch: So Happy Together

Elasticsearch has  great APIs, but what do you do when don't want make all those APIs (and all your data) public to all your clients? It's quick and easy to create simple, restricted APIs with the open-source Loopback framework and Elasticsearch!

Erin McKean is a developer evangelist for LoopBack at IBM and loves talking about APIs and Elasticsearch to anyone who will stand still long enough. She likes Node but still finds herself writing bash scripts on a weekly basis. Erin is also the founder of Wordnik.com, which has a lot of fun APIs. In her spare time she sews dresses and makes dumb Twitterbots. When you meet Erin, ask to join the Semicolon Appreciation Society.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy a Painless Elasticsearch meetup experience.

Painless is an all-new, purpose-built scripting language for Elasticsearch in 5.x.  Join me (Shane) as we talk about scripting history, why Painless was built, what it does, where it can be used, how to use it, and what the future looks like.  Who uses scripts?  Should you convert your Groovy scripts to Painless now or wait until later?  What about MVEL or Lucene expressions?  How would you actually convert a script to Painless?  What's the best way to test and debug?  We'll answer these questions and more!

Shane Connelly is a principal product manager at Elastic, where he focuses on Elasticsearch core. Prior to Elastic, he spent the last seven years developing, architecting, and managing search and analytics products, working as the product manager for the search platform of HP's big data initiative.
