ELK Stack in Action. Driving Application Metrics at Nativo,

Abstract:

At Nativo, ELK Stack is one the key technologies for delivering application performance metrics.  This talk will cover high level overview of ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana), dive into the configuration for a multi-region AWS implementation, and how to avoid some of the gotchas with tuning recommendations.  Along the way, share a recent challenges that ELK Stack helped solve. Plans for 2016 and review Elasticsearch 2.0 new features.

Speaker Bio:

Rich Horace leads DevOps at Nativo, Inc, a native advertising startup in Los Angeles.  Rich has been working in the online advertising space and early-stage startups for the past 10 years.  He has held positions at MySpace, Fox Audience Network, Glam Media and Sony Media Cloud Services, building DevOps style teams and scaling infrastructure. Rich has been working with log aggregation systems since 2008.  Starting off with Splunk, then Logstash in 2012, Splunk again in 2013 and back the the ELK Stack in 2014.  

Rich is also the organizer for Elastic User Group - Los Angeles and enjoys building a strong ELK community.
