Ghost in the Search Machine

Abstract

Doug Turnbull will be presenting an overview of search engine internals and will show how to turn Elasticsearch into a smart comparison powerhouse for your organization. Far more than just a full-text search engine, Elasticsearch can be used to detect at-risk students, predict the weather, and find similar images at high scale.

Speaker Bio

Doug Turnbull is an Elasticsearch consultant for OpenSource Connections and author of Relevant Search. Doug helps clients deliver smarter, contextually aware, and personalized search applications. Doug loves building tools to help with search relevancy, including QuepidSplainer and Elyzer.

Other Talks

Our gracious host, DataDog, will also be presenting some of their latest work on key performance metrics and monitoring for Elasticsearch. And if time permits, we'll host a short AMA with some technical folks from Elastic.
