Pizza and Beer 6:30PMish Everything is Data... Even Art Last year Pindar Van Arman experimented with switching over to the elastic cloud for all his databasing needs. He was surprised by not only how easy the switch was, but also how much more functionality he found built into the stack. With little effort he was 1: Making attractive visualization of his paintings in Kibana 2: Analyzing the metrics and geometry of brushstrokes 3: Performing spatial analysis with the Geolocation API Pindar Van Arman will be demoing one of his robots, discussing how it uses artificial creativity to make abstract portraits, and going into the details of how the elastic cloud has made dealing with the data behind the art trivial. After-- If time, lightning talks. Community and Recruiting Announcements Bio: Pindar Van Arman is a DC Area engineer and artist. He builds and designs painting robots, about half a dozen over the past decade. Sometimes they make beautiful art, sometimes they fail spectacularly. Regardless of how the art turns out, they are always exploring creativity and whether machines can be as expressive as humans. His robots have received multiple awards from organzations such as Google, the Barbican, Robot Art 2016 and even Elastic where he was on the shortlist for the Elastic Cause Awards at Elastic{ON} 17.
