About this event

Come join us for this specially formatted meetup and learn alongside fellow Elasticsearch enthusiasts over food and drink.

The unconference will be moderated by Loren Siebert, a San
Francisco-based Elasticsearch user and technical advisor for early
stage companies and government search applications.

What's an UnConference?

Good question.

It's a participant-driven meeting. Your typical conference has a group of organizers in charge of scheduling talks, deciding tracks, etc. When you're at an UnConference, these decisions are made by the participants! Participants have just as much of a voice as the organizers do. This ensures that the event is tailored for the crowd, with maximum fun and learning!

Sounds great. How does it work?

The evening will start with an announcement, logistics, and scheduling. This is followed by two 30 minute time blocks with a small break in between. Then we wrap up the evening.

6:00 - food and drinks
6:30 - scheduling
6:45 - TIME BLOCK A
7:15 - break
7:20 - TIME BLOCK B
7:50 - wrap up

When we begin, all participants will gather in the same room and figure out what topics they want to lead, present, instigate, or research. These are added to a white board under a time block.

At the beginning of each time block, participants will gather around the topic leader and find a space to pursue their topic. Sticking to the start & end time of each time block will ensure that everyone gets a chance to participate in their favorite topics.

The best part about UnConferences is the Law of Two Feet: you move whenever you want to whatever place you can best contribute and/or learn.
