TALK 1 - BASIS TECHNOLOGY

Title: An Elasticsearch Plugin for Simple Fuzzy Name Matching

Normalization is crucial to high quality search results -- who wants irrelevant variations between queries and documents leading to missed hits (e.g., “celebrity” v. “celebrities”)? Normalizing dictionary words works, but what if your application focuses on names? Whether you’re tackling log analysis, e-commerce, watchlist screening or other applications, names are often the key. Can you find “Abdul Jabbar, Karim” if you search for “Kareem AbdalJabar” or “كريم عبد الجبار”?

Applications using Elasticsearch provide some fuzziness by mixing its built-in edit-distance matching and phonetic analysis with more generic analyzers and filters (see example #1 or #2). We’ve tried to go beyond that to provide both better matching and a simpler integration. We use a custom Mapper and Score Function so that linguistic nuances can be handled behind-the-scenes. We’ll talk about how we built this sort of plug-in for Rosette, its customization, and its connection to broader trend of entity-centric search.

Speaker bio: Tsofit Mano Izhar is a Customer Engineer at Basis Technology, responsible for designing solutions and delivering services to adapt text analytic components for a broad range of customer problems. Tsofit has spent the last 7 years in software development.

TALK 2 - CELLEBRITE

Title: Fighting Crime with Elastic and Unstructured Data Analytics

This talk is about how law enforcement organizations use link, text and image analytics for finding crucial evidence in criminal investigations. We will discuss main challenges, best practices and tips for unstructured data analysis and show cool demos.

Previously VP Technology in NICE for 10 years, currently CTO for Cellebrite.

TALK 3 - WeAnkor.

Title: Cyber Security Data Visualization using Echo

Joola Echo is a cyber security data analytics and visualization service built on top of the ELK stack. Echo extends Elastic and Kibana to introduce real-time features, geo based visualization, dedicated and embedded dashboards and more. During the talk we will review the reason behind choosing ELK, data flow, extending Kibana, tackling real-time visualization and more. The talk will be accompanied with a live demo.
