We are super excited to announce our next event at Vimeo on July 16th. ---- Session 1: Elastic at Vimeo Speaker: Chris Simpson Speaker Bio: Chris Simpson is a Senior Software Engineer at Vimeo LLC working on Search & Discovery products. He is an early adopter and longtime user of Elasticsearch, having first spoken at The London Elasticsearch Meetup in 2012 about his experiences using ES to power search over hundreds of millions of documents in a production environment. More recently, Chris has spoken at the ElasticON Tour NYC conference, and numerous other open-source search events. He is interested the emerging discipline of "Relevance Engineering" and how data-science, machine learning, and Information Retrieval experts are working together to fulfill the technical and business needs of their companies. Talk Description: Chris will be discussing the use of Elasticsearch at Vimeo including the specific challenges and scaling requirements we have. He will explain an overview of the growing number of Elasticsearch-backed services powering Vimeo today, and the features of Elasticsearch they use to index Vimeo's vast dataset and reliably serve search requests.
