Interest in this subject is intense. At the Elastic{ON]16 user's conference, monitoring and security vendors were dominantly represented. Personally, I was impressed with some of the security applications and how they combined various data sources and searches into powerful and incisive analytical security tools.

For this meetup, we'll recruit one or two local experts with deep experience in security use cases as they related to elasticsearch and the ability to capture, create and interpret security information out of logging and machine data. In advance of this meetup, I will compile and circulate some publicly available "best practice", "features", or "cybersecurity" white papers for our consideration.

Come to this meetup if you'd like to hear and maybe share security experience, good and bad. While there are strict guidelines and compliance requirements for running secure IT organizations, there is still a mindfulness about security that we can hone throughout our careers; it's a form of troubleshooting and forensic thinking, about what may have or may happened, knowing that you only notice what you discover, or discover what you notice!
