We have arranged for Jon Budzenski, a Kibana Developer at Elastic, to join us by telecast at 7pm! He'll share some information -- which we'll project on a big screen -- and also take questions from us.
Perhaps the holy grail of IT creation is making stuff that non-IT people love. We developers and engineers are comfortable with wackily complicated stuff... but many a wonderful technology innovation died on the vine because a non-IT person (business person, manager, vice president, king) who controlled the purse string or otherwise held sway couldn't find the darn POWER button.
Enter KIBANA. You've built up a sweet Elastic Stack cluster, chewing up data and spitting out information in a pure sparkling stream. It purrs at mellow RPMs. It smells like cinnamon. The reality check, is nobody knows it unless you make it VISIBLE and tangible, and Kibana is a way to do it.
We'll find an expert or two, a laptop, and a projector for this meetup; we'll have them demonstrate and deconstruct Kibana. With web development approaches, we'll figure out how to brand and maybe simplify how Kibana looks; we'll review the different display options and discuss which ones look better for what situations. We'll practice the habit of making something simpler than we'd want it to be. Then, even simpler... We'll talk about giving our business users and budget makers something shiny to play with.
Snacky food and beverages will be provided, but no alcohol will be served at this meetup (library policy).
