G'Day Everyone,

We’re kicking off this new User Group with our first meet up at the awesome offices of Seek, in St Kilda and not far from the CBD.

We’ll do a introduction to the local Elastic team and a brief recap of some of key points from Elastic{ON}, our global conference held in San Fransisco in February.

Our friends and sponsors at Seek will also be talking about their Elastic journey in the talk 'Elasticsearch: From Hack to Production'.

Nivantha, Reza and Brett will detail their journey porting the SEEK TalentSearch product from a proprietary search engine to ElasticSearch.  

This will include: 

• How we managed the switch over including A/B testing

• Challenges and rewards of the switch

• Relevance tuning using BM25 and field level similarity differences

• Getting a cluster up and running inside AWS 

• Using a blue/green continuously delivered deployment strategy (immutable infrastructure stack)

• Performance tuning/instance sizing.
