Spelunking the Bitcoin Blockchain with Elasticsearch

It seems like we hear stories about blockchain and bitcoin every day. What if I told you the data is fascinating to visualize. What if I told you there are even secrets and mysterious things in the data? The bitcoin blockchain is now more than 300 million transactions which makes working with it difficult, that’s a huge amount of data. But thanks to the power of the Elastic Stack we can unlock its secrets in real time. Let’s take a walk through the blockchain together.

Josh Bressers is the head of Product Security at Elastic. Josh has been involved in the security of products and projects, especially open source, for a very long time. Josh has helped build and manage security groups for many open source projects as well as a number of organizations. Everything from managing vulnerabilities, security development lifecycle, DevOps, security product management, security strategy, and nearly any other task that falls under the security umbrella. Josh co-hosts the Open Source Security Podcast. Josh is also an active member of the Distributed Weaknesses and Filing project which is in the process of leveraging the power of open source for CVEs.

Over the past 18 months, Sentry Insurance has transitioned the bulk of our internal infrastructure monitoring to the Elastic Metricbeat platform. Rob and Brian will walk through the decisions that led us to select the Beats platform, successes/challenges of the implementation, as what’s next on our roadmap. We’ll end the brief overview with a live demo of the Sentry Beats platform and open Q&A discussion.
