Analyzing over 500 million logs per day with the Elastic Stack
As SaaS provider Paylocity underwent massive growth over the past several years, keeping track of all their logs became a real challenge. Learn how they went from poring through individual logs to indexing and analyzing over 500 million logs per day with the Elastic Stack.
Justin Purdy is a Systems Administrator at cloud-based payroll and HCM provider Paylocity. He has built several platforms to help provide monitoring and visibility into Paylocity's IT systems. Over the past year, he's led the project of implementing the Elastic Stack, and has helped it grow from a single use-case to a must-have tool across their Technology organization.
How-to Build Kibana Visualization
Learn what Kibana tricks TDS Telecom has used to show data percentages with Kibana’s pie chart visualization and real-world examples of the split slices and split charts features. Kibana’s histogram capabilities will get a lot of attention as well including how-tos on splitting histogram bars, building percentage-based histograms, forcing histograms into defined time periods, adjusting the Y-axis scale, using IP networks to create custom filters and creating fill-based histograms for visually plotting network bandwidth. Other visualizations such as mapping latitude and longitude, creating export tables and showing top 10 and bottom 10 data summaries will be discussed as well. This time will be largely interactive with plenty of time for Q&A.
