About this event

Join us on Tuesday, June 21st for our second Elastic meetup in Madison. Mike Heldebrant , a Solutions Architect for Elastic, will be discussing Timelion and Logstash filters.

Great conversation, food, and beverages will be provided!

----------------

In this talk we'll dive deep into Timelion, discussing what you can do with it and how you can use it. Timelion (pronounced "Timeline") is a Kibana plugin that lets you visualize time series data in Elasticsearch using Kibana. Using a new expression syntax for Kibana, Timelion provides a way to describe queries, transformations, and visualization in one place, in one line.  We’ll also dive deep into Logstash, and discuss how to use Logstash filters. We’ll cover the basics (simple log parsing, enrichment) as well as more advanced topics (a batch job elapsed time).

Michael Heldebrant has been using open source technologies for 19 years.  He currently works for Elastic as a Solutions Architect.  He started with open source in support of his Ph.D research in Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.  Michael continues his passion for data exploration, analysis and bioinformatics by helping harness the value of data with the Elastic stack.

----------------

Whether you're new to the Elastic Stack or an experienced user, this user group will have good, technical conversations, and offer immediately-usable tactical tips.

We focus on technical tutorials and real world use cases in these meetups. So, please come ready to ask the hard questions and learn how the Elastic Stack can help you and your team! We are on the lookout for speakers, hosts, and community organizers. If you are interested in getting more involved with this user group, please reach out to us at meetups@elastic.co.
