We’re very excited to have members of the Elastic team visiting for Gluecon, so we’re putting together a special edition meetup with our visitors and our friends from Bitly.

Many thanks to Bitly for hosting us and providing a speaker!

We’ll be serving food and drink, so come hungry for knowledge and noms.

Confessions of a Newbie App Developer:

Shaunak Kashyap just joined Elastic as a Developer Advocate, so now’s your to hear  his unfiltered insights on creating an application atop Elasticsearch. His tips and tricks promise to be useful for the Elasticsearch newbie and anyone who’d like to help their friends get up and running with Elasticsearch based applications.

Aggregations in Action at Bitly

Peter Herndon will discuss how Bitly uses aggregation queries to segment audience data from their raw click data. Expect a deep dive on general scheme, queries and the requirements that drive Bitly approach to analytics.

Speaker Bios

Aaron Mildenstein, Software Engineer - Elastic

Aaron is a former SysAdmin who discovered his passion wringing useful information from log files and performance metrics of all kinds. He discovered Logstash and Elasticsearch in 2011 and has never been the same since. He started developing and extending Logstash at Elastic full-time in October 2013.

Lee Hinman, Software Engineer - Elastic

Lee Hinman is a big fan of Clojure. After a gig at Sonian, he joined Elastic as a software engineer in August 2013. He’s an Elasticsearch core developer and you can follow him on Twitter at https://twitter.com/thnetos

Shaunak Kashyap, Developer Advocate - Elastic
Shaunak Kashyap has been working in the Internet software industry for over a decade. During this time, he has worked at small and large companies alike. Shaunak started his career at a startup in Connecticut, worked at a Hollywood production company in Los Angeles and eventually settled in Silicon Valley. Today, he works as a Developer Advocate at Elastic, the makers of Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana.
