About this event

Scaling Content Management Solution

Southwest.com and their native IOS, Android apps are currently the only way to purchase their flights online, other than calling their customer service of course. It is very critical for their business to also show relevant marketing content such as promotional offers, hero images and targeted ads.

While the data that needs to be processed is not in large volumes, the large volume of traffic demands a system that can handle thousands of transaction per second. There is also a need to show targeted ads based on customer analysis.

Come learn more about Southwest's use case and their lessons learned from Jeff Potts.

Jeff Potts is the founder of Metaversant, a content management consultancy based in Dallas, Texas. Jeff has spent 20 years implementing solutions around content management, document management, workflow and search for clients like Turner Broadcasting, Activision, Sony Pictures, Southwest Airlines, PepsiCo, Frito-Lay, Red Hat, BNSF Railway, and others. He's written two ECM-related books, the most recent of which was CMIS and Apache Chemistry in Action (Manning, 2013) which he co-authored with Florian Mueller and Jay Brown. Jeff runs a popular blog called ECM Architect and is a committer on the Apache Chemistry project. Jeff has previously spoken at conferences such as JBoss World, KMWorld, ApacheCon, OSCON, JavaONE, and Devoxx.
