About this event

We're still working on convening the next meetup for the Chicago user group, but in the meantime you may be interested in this presentation convened by some local MySQL fans. If you'd like to attend, make sure to RSVP to the Chicago MySQL User Group Meetup event.

MySQL Audit Logging And ElasticSearch ELK

This talk will cover the three most popular open source MySQL audit plugins. We'll compare these plugins and discuss items such as security, compliance, and performance. Once audit logging is in place, you have to store your logs somewhere. This is where the Elasticsearch ELK stack comes into play.

Unless you spend large sums of money on proprietary security products, your log files usually sit somewhere for a period of time and are eventually deleted. The ELK stack provides new options for working with logs. Elasticsearch can be used for searching and analytics. Logstash allows you to centralize your logs. And Kibana is the Elasticsearch data visualization engine that allows you to perform data analysis through dynamic custom dashboards.

This talk will include:
-Percona, McAfee, and MariaDB audit plugins
-Plugin configuration
-Logging performance
-Brief overview of Elasticsearch ELK
-Performance and ELK stack demos
