Join us for a meetup on Thursday, May 12 at HomeAway's office in Austin. Our speaker line-up for the night includes HomeAway's Pierre Padovani.
HomeAway's API platform provides RESTful data access to objects stored across many RDBMS databases and schemas. As this API evolved, the need to search and join across multiple databases at scale required one-off code and SQL. The introduction of Elasticsearch allowed HomeAway to turn this problem on it’s head. Our solution uses Elasticsearch, a small custom query language, dynamic mapping generation from pojo's, and a custom multi-index routing solution that enables a single logical entity index to scale to billions of documents.
Pierre Padovani is a software architect at Homeaway on the platform API team, and leads the efforts to further integrate Elasticsearch and Kibana into the platform API's. He has been in the software engineering field for over 20 years with exposure to healthcare, security and provisioning based software products.
Food and Beverages will be sponsored by HomeAway!
