About this event

Please note updated venue information!

For our 3rd Austin meetup, we'll welcome Zachary Tong and Aaron Mildenstein. Zachary will discuss Query Optimization in Elasticsearch.  There are some simple techniques - such as planning your query layout and avoiding cache churn - which can reduce query latency significantly. Zach will help you make your queries sing. We'll have more detail on Aaron's talk in the coming days.

We'll be serving food and drink, so come hungry for knowledge and noms!

Draft Agenda:

6:30 PM: Doors open, food served

7:00 PM: Talks begin

8:00 PM: Talks conclude, networking continues

8:30 PM: Wrap up and head homewards

Speaker Information:

Zachary Tong, Software Engineer, Elasticsearch Inc

Zach is a developer at Elasticsearch…and he is on a mission to educate. He’s been writing articles about Elasticsearch for nearly two years, and has released several plugins to help newcomers understand what Elasticsearch is doing under the hood.

Aaron Mildenstein, Software Engineering, Elasticsearch Inc

Aaron is a former SysAdmin who found his creative outlet writing code to help wring useful information from log files and performance metrics of all kinds.  He discovered Logstash and Elasticsearch in 2011 and has never been the same since.

He started developing and extending Logstash for Elasticsearch full-time in October 2013.

Many thanks to the fine folks at Spanning for being our gracious hosts!
