About this event

Hello Elastic Users of Atlanta!

The topic for our meeting will be Big Data ETL and Predictive Analytics with Elasticsearch and Apache Spark. This presentation will take a look at leveraging Elasticsearch and Apache Spark for processing large quantities of heterogeneous data, transforming it, and applying machine learning for predictive analytics. We'll also cover how Predikto is able to scale the processing and visualization of massive amounts of data using these tools.

We will be hearing from Roy Russo, the Vice President of Engineering at Predikto, Inc, a predictive analytics company. Roy leads a team of engineers and data scientists in building a large scale predictive analytics platform on open source software. Before joining Predikto, Roy was the Chief Architect at AltiSource Labs, a FinTech startup based in Atlanta, GA. He is currently the founder of ElasticHQ.org the leading open-source monitoring and management application for ElasticSearch clusters, and co-author of Elasticsearch in Action.

We'll also have a talk from Elastic's Ryan Schneider, and he will recap the exciting announcements from Elastic{ON}'16

Last month in San Francisco, Elastic held its second annual Elastic{ON} user conference where many announcements on upcoming features and releases for the entire Elastic Stack. A summary of the announcements and activities from the conference will be shared. Beats (platform for building lightweight, open source data shippers) and the recently announced Ingest Node are new ways to get data indexed into Elasticsearch and ultimately viewed in Kibana. The second half of the talk will introduce Beats and Node Ingest along with a small demo.

Ryan Schneider has worked as a backend and distributed system engineer since 2004 and worked in companies both large and small. Ryan has a BS in CS, an MS in Software Development and Management, and a passion for architecture and building great systems. At night he also taught as an adjunct professor for the RIT Software Engineering department. Ryan is excited to now be able to blend his love for teaching, elasticsearch, and building great software into his role as an Education Engineer for Elastic where he enjoys helping enable other engineers to build amazing products using the Elastic Stack.
