In this presentation, Shaunak will give you the whirlwind tour of Elasticsearch, including fundamental concepts, its HTTP API, and how people are using it to do great things with data. Then on to demo time! Shaunak will build a simple application for searching recipes using the PHP client for Elasticsearch. As he walks you through the demo step by step, you'll get insight into Elasticsearch's indexing, searching, and aggregations capabilities.

Shaunak works as a Developer Advocate at Elastic, the makers of Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana. In past lives he has been a Node.js, PHP and Java application developer.
